Biography

Dr. Sivan Zakai is the Director of Research and Teacher Education at the Graduate Center for Education, where her areas of expertise include curriculum, Jewish history, and the teaching of Israel. She earned her Ph.D. in education and M.A. in history from Stanford University as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. Dr. Zakai has taught in a variety of Jewish educational settings including day schools, supplementary schools, and camps. A recipient of the Network for Research in Jewish Education’s Young Scholars Award, Dr. Zakai has presented her research about history education and Israel education at a number of venues including the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Israel Studies, and the Network for Research in Jewish Education. Her work has been published in a variety of publications including The Journal of Jewish Education, The Jewish Daily Forward, and History of Education Quarterly.
