Biography

Steven Funk has served as a lecturer in Literature since 2007 and Writing Coordinator since 2009. Among his classes taught are Freshman Writing, Advanced Writing, Creative Writing and Cymbals for the Literature, Communication and Media Department.  He also tutors AJU graduate students in the MBA and M.A.Ed. programs. Prior to joining the AJU faculty, Mr. Funk managed the Kaplan Premier private tutoring division of Southern California. He remains on staff as a tutor for those students with special needs and creative learning styles. Mr. Funk is a member and presenter for the Philip Roth Society, the Modern Language Association, the American Literature Association and the University of California at Riverside's annual conference, (Dis)junctions. Enrolled as a doctoral candidate in Education at UCLA, he envisions an American educational system that champions learning not as a means to an end, but as a worthy endeavor of its own.
