Alumni as Ambassadors for Our Program

Millie Wexler, Director of Recruitment and Outreach

It has certainly been a pleasure and an honor to be welcomed as the new Director of Recruitment and Outreach of the Graduate Center for Education at AJU. A longtime enthusiast of the wonderful programs and community resources at AJU, my husband and I are also alumni of its valuable Making Marriage Work classes. Therefore, when I had the opportunity to sing the praises and engage prospective students for the Graduate Center for Education, I accepted with enthusiasm and thus began a challenging and rewarding journey.

From the testimonials we received from alumni about our graduate program, the value of our Master of Arts in Education and Master of Arts in Teaching shines through. Not only is the excellent faculty, curriculum, transdenominational student body, and networking in the Masters of Arts in Education program impressive, it is evident in the caliber of alumni and in the variety of careers that they make a difference in every day. This fall, we have been actively connecting with prospective students at such places as Graduate and Professional School Fairs, and important Jewish young adult Jewish organizations such as Camp Ramah, USY, local Hillels, and the Institute for Southern Jewish Life. To showcase our niche program, we held our first and successful Open House for prospective students November 11th and we will host another Open House January 26, 2012. Prospective students will participate in a Taste of Academics at AJU, a campus tour given by a current student, and learn about the professional opportunities that await graduates of our program.

As alumni, you play a very important role in assisting the recruitment process to increase awareness and knowledge of AJU's graduate education programs to prospective students. In many ways, you are the best ambassadors for our program given that you can share personal accounts of your experiences as a student, and/or an active member of the larger Jewish community. You are in a unique position to promote a program that you had the benefit of experiencing firsthand. If you have questions regarding the recruitment process and are interested in becoming involved at any time, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you in expanding our recruitment network and appreciate your time and efforts! I can be reached at mwexler@ajula.edu or 310-440-1249.
