A Message from Dr. Robert Wexler
|
Our new partnership with Brandeis-Bardin Institute (BBI) has been gratifying in so many ways. As we moved toward forging an agreement, I met with every member of the BBI board of directors. Some I already knew, and others I came to know. I was particularly impressed with their broad knowledge of the institution and commitment to its success. Such was the depth of this commitment that they were willing to join with the UJ to create the American Jewish University (AJU).
How can I describe the sense of electricity that filled the room as the University of Judaism board of directors met to confirm our agreement with BBI and launch the AJU? The vote was unanimous. But more than that, the men and women of our board recognized that they were participating in an historic moment in the annals of our institution, our community and American Judaism.
When it comes right down to it, we all want to believe in Jewish unity and in a future for Jewish life in this country. The creation of the American Jewish University has provided a joyful moment of optimism, and it is wonderful to see that so many people in this community and beyond share our vision and our enthusiasm.

Adam Stein (MAEd) and Associated Students President Jahmy Graham (BA) were the student speakers. As a testament to AJU students’ affinity for their alma mater, both Stein and Graham return next year, as a Ziegler rabbinical student and MBA graduate student, respectively. view more photos
